"Melbourne DJ/Producer Sgt Slick (aka Andy J) has immersed himself in the world of clubs and club music over the last 10 years. In that time he has DJ’d all over the country, run a record label, remixed countless club tunes, fronted a national radio mix show, won ARIA awards, mixed top selling mix CDs, been profiled nationally on TV, and released tunes under no less than 10 aliases! With a 10 year relationship with Australia’s leading club label “Vicious” under the Sgt Slick moniker, he has a slew of releases to his name, including one of Australia’s finest house music moments in “White Treble, Black Bass”. Topping club charts in Australia and all over Europe/UK, the track eventually netted Andy an ARIA award for Best Dance Release in ’98.
Along with his output as “Sgt Slick”, Andy has achieved huge success under many monikers… “Blackout” (along with John Course, Andy Van and Darren Glen) “Gotta Have Hope”, reached the top position on club charts the world over (including Mixmag UK and ARIA Club Chart), “Firefox”, whose “Sex Shooter” was a global club hit, picked up by the world’s biggest club music label: Ministry of Sound’s “Data”. As one half of “Smash ‘n’ Grab”,“She Don’t Like That” was a top 40 and club smash, and the “Andy J” releases “Tilt My Hat” and “I Will Have You” were both ARIA top 5’s, and received massive radio rotation nationally. Co hosting / mixing duties on the nation’s biggest mix show “LOADED” also saw Andy playing weekly to a nation wide audience of half a million on the Austereo Network (Fox FM, 2Day FM, B105 etc) from 2002 – 2007.. Along with a solid remix schedule and regular mix cd releases, the latest being Vinyl Pusher’s “Pure” set alongside Melbourne’s “Boogs”, his custom bootlegs and re rubs are hot property amongst local and international DJs, he has co hosted Nova’s “NovaNation” radio show, and appeared on Triple J’s “Mixup” 3 times."
