Music Producer - Suitable For You?

"Music producers are the individuals who create compositions, from instrumentals to the latest Top 40 hits. Music production has become the backbone of success for most musicians that have excelled in the music industry. The production aspect of music is almost as lucrative as the internal publishing and distribution.

Few steps for a good start point

You' ll need a personal recording studio before trying below suggestions:
  • Incorporate your own personal recording studio. A personal recording studio opens many doors for gaining revenue. You can opt to rent your studio out, engineer recordings for vocalists or only produce tracks. All of these avenues create revenue, which enables you to invest back into your studio.  
  • Build your repertoire. Nothing helps music producers more than diversity. A wide range of music along with experience with several genres of music expands the horizon of any production platform. It opens doors for innovation along with the cultivation of new concepts and ideas. Many producers have gained a lot of eclectic success with a wide repertoire alone. 
  • Market your product. This requires deciding on a target market. Your target market consists of the listeners you plan to cater to. Whether your target market is alternative, children, teens or urban, make sure you are catering to that market. Too many changes can confuse consumers. Stick with one target market and branch out after you have established a name for yourself.  
  • Advertise yourself. Music producers are human advertisements. The clothes you wear all the way down to how you carry yourself are all essential to personal advertisement. For example, if you specialize in urban music, dress that way. Hang fliers, build a website, give sample discs away and even opt to give away tracks. Your focus is being heard. Your music is your credibility, therefore it speaks for you. Do whatever it takes to make people hear it.
  • Sell your music. Today's marketing platform is equipped with several avenues for executing sales. This can either be done online or by marketing at local clubs, mixers or publicity gatherings. 
Don't forget to keep an eye on some basic rules:
  • Networking is a strong key to success in becoming a music producer. Make sure you communicate with lots of people to gain rapport with musicians, producers and possibly artist and repertoire directors. Some of the greatest success in the music industry was derived solely from social networking.
  • Use the Internet to you advantage if you can. The Internet can be a strong marketing platform if you use it effectively. (See Resources.)
  • Always invest in yourself. When you make a profit, invest it into yourself, your studio and your business. Due to the ever-changing status of today's music industry, technology and other innovations directed toward creation and marketing, you must keep up with these changes. This ensures that your music quality stays inline with society and the target market.
  • Always copyright your productions. This ensures that your music, concept or initial idea is not stolen, used or distributed without your consent. If actions transpire without your consent, it will be quite difficult and tedious to take action to rectify the problem."

Using Multiple Speakers On One Home Theater Or Stereo Amplifier

" This is ultimately easy, but before explaining the process it is necessary to provide a warning. Multiple sets of speakers usually can not be hooked directly to a standard audio amplifier without some sort of impedance matching device. This is in reference to those persons whom might want to run speakers in several rooms at the same time (distributed audio). If several sets of speakers are run from one set of speaker terminals the amplifier will usually overheat and shut down, and may blow the output stage. These remarks do not apply to PA style amplifiers with 25 or 70 volt outputs, which require special speakers with transformers.
The correct solution is to use either an impedance matching speaker selector with the protection enabled, or use impedance matching in wall volume controls. Notice the underline in the sentence above. This is because most speaker selectors are made with a dangerous feature: a button, right in front, to disable the protection. If the switch was in back to prevent accidental deactivation of the speaker protection it would be much better. If the protection is accidentally switched off while running multiple pairs of speakers the amplifier will shut down, may blow output fuses, and very well may damage the output stage of the amplifier. There are really only 2 reasons to turn this switch off, the most relevant being that impedance matching volume controls are being used on ALL pairs of speakers. The other reason would be if only one pair of speakers are being run, making impedance matching unnecessary. In this event, though, leaving the protection switched in will make only a very small difference to the sound, so why not leave it on?
Remember it this way: only put one speaker per pair of terminals (usually red and black) on the amplifier. Do not try to use a surround amp to feed several rooms with one room on the center, one room on the rear surrounds etc. This is due to the way a surround receiver distributes the sound as you may end up with only the voice in one room and only the music in another! The correct hookup for a surround receiver puts surround sound in the main room and sound from the left and right main speakers is distributed. My recommendation for hooking up a surround receiver is as follows. Run the speaker selector from the front left and front right outputs on the amplifier. Hook your front left & right speakers to the first speaker switch on the speaker selector. You will need to re-balance your surround system by running the pink noise test as the speaker selector will decrease the output to the left and right speakers by a small amount. This allows 
running the main speakers & the other speakers connected to the speaker selector without one set being louder than the others. If your speaker selector has volume controls, you need to make sure when you use your surround system for movies the volume control is at the same setting it was when doing the pink noise test. You may hook the speaker selector to the 'b' speaker switch on the amplifier if speaker volume balance between your main left & right speakers and the rest of the speakers is not an issue.
Another variation is amplifiers with a direct speaker output for zone 2, 3, etc. These are set up to drive 1 pair of speakers, and must be used with impedance matching if more pairs are to be used. The zone outputs allow a second (or third etc) source, for example CD in one room and radio in another.
An impedance matching speaker selector provides multiple outputs from one input, and protects your amplifier from damage. Speaker selectors come with 4-12 outputs. As long as your amp has enough power, you can push as many sets of speakers as you want. Simply connect the speaker selector to your 'A' (or 'B') outputs and the rest of your speakers on the speaker selector. You can purchase speaker selectors with volume controls for each individual speaker. Another option is in wall impedance matching volume controls, which require no speaker selector. Most of these are set with jumpers at install time, providing the correct matching. If you want to run more pairs of speakers than the speaker selectors or volume controls are made for (usually 12 pairs max. depending on the hardware) you probably want a second amplifier to run the second set of volume controls (or speaker selector) from."

"ROHM has recently announced the development of the BU7150NUV, a low power consumption headphone amplifier that supports low voltage operation from 0.93V, making it compatible with single-cell battery applications such as IC recorders and noise canceling headphones.
The continuing evolution of low-voltage technology has engendered a variety of portable devices that operate on a single dry cell (1.5V). However, most headphone amplifiers still require a minimum operating voltage above 1.5V, necessitating a step-up DC/DC converter. But this method results in conversion loss, typically around 10%.
Although there are headphone amplifiers that operate at voltages around 0.9V, when used in sets that operate from dry cell batteries the power supply startup time increases due to the increase in output resistance based on battery discharge, making it difficult to use in products with limited power supply voltage startup times.
The BU7150NUV alleviates these problems by ensuring stable operation from 0.93V, eliminating the need for a boost converter circuit in single-cell applications. In addition, an internal power ON reset function frees the IC from the effects of the power supply voltage startup time.
