Top 100 Clubs 2010 Results

"The pride of Manchester, Sankeys storms to victory in the first purely clubber-voted DJmag Top 100 Clubs poll. For the first time in its history DJmag's Top 100 Clubs 2010 was decided purely by clubbers. It represents the most comprehensive clubs poll ever with over 80,000 clubbers from across the planet pledging their votes for their favourite dancefloors. Breaking into the top 10 for the first time in the poll’s four-year history was Manchester's legendary Sankeys, who secured the crown as people’s champion — jumping a massive 15 places to replace Berlin’s Berghain/Panorama Bar at the number 1 spot. The top ten positions were dominated by European venues –London heavyweights Fabric, Matter, and Ministry of Sound; and Ibiza favourites Amnesia, Space, and Pacha all made the Top 10. Singapore’s standard-bearer Zouk was the only venue outside of Europe to feature in the top 10. The highest climber in the top 10 was London superclub Matter which leaped 20 places to rise to number 6. Proof of the Greenwich superclub’s growing prominence at the heart of London’s club scene, this capped off a year that has seen nights like Cocoon, Circo Loco, Andy C’s Ram and dubstep/grime megarave Rinse Vs FWD all sell out at the 2,600 capacity venue.

But the highest climbing UK venue was the futuristic Mint Club in Leeds, which surged up 53 places to hit 24. New entries from the UK included DJmag's "Best Of British" best small club winner Corsica Studios at 41, Plan B’s Brixton 91, and Shoreditch’s East Village which landed at 100. Across the top 100 as a whole there was a total of 27 entirely new entries including Hamburg’s Baalsaal, Croatia’s Porat, Dublin’s Twisted Pepper, Amsterdam’s Melkweg’s, Belfast’s Mynt, Frankfurt’s Neidklub, Beirut’s Skybar, Cyprus’s answer to Bora Bora — Guaba Beach Bar. Despite slipping down in the poll by 7 and 5 places respectively, Brazilian dance emporium’s D-Edge and Warung continued to occupy the heady heights on 16 and 20 respectively. Epic 8,000-capacity outdoor emporium Green Valley, meanwhile, rose 10 places at number 27.
Proof positive of the thriving worldwide dance community and the global reach of club culture, venues from all four continents were represented across 28 individual countries including England, Ibiza, Germany, Singapore, Greece, Japan, USA, Canada, Brazil, Belgium, Egypt, Romania, China, Scotland, Spain, Holland, Argentina, Ireland, Beirut, France, Bolivia, Bulgaria, Peru, Malta, Australia, Croatia and Dubai."
